Where to buy marmalade bush

Bursts of red, yellow, peach, and gold flowers blanket this shrub to remind me of seeing pictures of the universe and the masses of swirling stars. Marmalade Bush or Streptosolen jamesonii is an evergreen shrub of the Solanaceae family. The loose clusters of flowers start out yellow, and the change to gold, and then change from gold to peach to red. The height of the Marmalade Bush is up to 6 feet tall with slender, tall stems.

It's good to remember though, this South American native is also known as the fire bush, or "ginger meggs". It's part of the large Solanaceae family, which includes other ornamentals such as yesterday-today-and-tomorrow, potato vine, plus edibles such as tomato and potato.

The marmalade bush needs a warm, frost-free climate and thrives in a sunny spot with good quality, well draining soil. This medium evergreen will grow up to 3 metres high and 2. It's also well suited to containers, either spilling out of a wall-mounted pot or in a tub on your balcony. Unlike some other plants, the marmalade bush can be a bit fussy if you don't get the position right.

If it doesn't get enough sunlight it risks becoming leggy. Low light will also impact the colour, number and density of the flowers on your bush. It is included in an evolving list of plants carefully researched and chosen by RHS experts.
