What do yogscast use to talk

A further passing mention in a Yogscast vlog in June simply said that he was getting better and that his friends hoped he would be fully recovered soon. Simon returned to making YouTube videos on September 25, making his first appearance in 6 months in the first episode of Trials Of Skobbels [2].

Despite returning to several series on the main channel, he had a diminished involvement with Yogscast projects during his recuperation throughout He then went on another hiatus in March , returning on the 9th of June on the stream. However, after his last hiatus, Simon has appeared less frequently on the main channel in which he used to appear in almost every single video.

Most of the personal taunts were submitted by this very subreddit!

You can find them all in this thread , including links to the original videos. The "I did it!! I know you started as the yogscast web designer, but how did you get into professional Youtube-ing? But it seems as I was wrong, and he is still the same Zach. I mean, you may have been actively anticipating it, and caught on easier. Many where caught off guard. Death, especially of a well loved man such as Simon, is simply unacceptable. Plus, Hannah and other Yogs have already voice serious concern about this.

Yes, I just heard about Hannah's and the other yogs voice. This makes me a bit furious as Zach didn't consult any of the actually yogs members before posting about the death of their coworker? I think there should at least be an official statement instead of just unpinning the thread so it can be downvoted into oblivion. You all should check out Hannah's twitter, her tweets perfectly encapsulate the possible reasoning for this behaviour.

I hope that The Yogs can gain ownership of this subreddit, it's pretty clear that, despite not being official mods, the mods here some more so than others cough cough can cause a lot of damage to The Yogscast brand and the community as a whole. Heck, I'd be happy if they just created their own subreddit, anything to give them at least some control over their own community on Reddit. I'm not particularly concerned about censorship if the mod team was made entirely of Yogscast members or trusted people.

There isn't much to censor in our community and issues that have risen in the past Yogventures, YogDiscovery, etc are usually followed by a statement by Turps anyway. I believe Hannah mentioned in regards to any official appointments to the mod team that there are plenty of well moderated alternatives like Discord that allows them to maintain levels of control without needing to be on Reddit in the same capacity. I think that's entirely fine but personally I'd like someone official on the team at a minimum and an entire takeover as a preference.

If there was a single person on the team it would allow them to be in contact with the existing moderators and help them with any issues by having an official voice of the Yogscast available. If there was a complete takeover it would give Yogscast the opportunity to run this 72, strong subreddit the way they would prefer instead of having to just deal with the decisions of moderators hell bent on holding any power they can.

Except if they do try to censor users, it will just cause a whole bunch of controversy. If censorship does happen people will speak up about it, like they have done with this specific issue.

Another thing to note is that The Yogscast themselves don't directly moderate, but instead have separate moderators that are there to deal with the community, whether it be in Twitch chat, Discord or elsewhere. As it stands, not having any control over this subreddit and its moderators is doing more harm than good.

Yes, except nerd3 doesn't have the absolutely horrible track record of spewing accusations, retractions, and other nonsense like it'sgoing out of style like certain members of the Yogscast do; chief examples would be Lewis throwing a bitchfit at TB and accusing literally the guy at the front of the whole "more disclosure on YouTube" charge, of non disclosure, without any proof, followed by his utter Trainwreck of an appearance on national radio.

And that's not to mention Hannah's habit of Twitter stalking with the occasional tweet going too far towards the doxxing side of the spectrum. Then you've got the bit where there's tons of them nowadays, who gets to be a mod? How's their communication going to be, because we've got examples that show they're not the best at keeping people in the loop. Independent moderation best moderation; authority being given to a group with elements known to lash out will inevitably result in censorship.

The Yogscast members won't be moderating the subreddit themselves, they have a separate group of people who handle moderating officially who do a damn good job of it. These moderators are trusted by both the community and The Yogscast and have a lot of experience.

The Yogs will also have ways of contacting their own moderators if the need arises and vice versa. Letting The Yogscast have some form of control over the subreddit will mean that if a moderator does step out of line, then they can be easily dealt with properly. With how this subreddit has gone over recent events, we've had a mod stepped out of line several times and was still allowed to remain on the team without any consequences from the other mods.

I always find it interesting to see people clammering for moderating positions on forums and minecraft servers. Most people seem to think that it's anything except a responsibility to do just that, moderate. Anything posted and especially stickied should be discussed by the team. Whatever my opinions are on zach I feel like the communication and process between mods could be worked on. The people on a moderator team should be people that you trust to represent you or the fangroup you're running.

I never recommend having friends as moderators for this reason because when it comes to it you might have to chose between that friendship or letting them off the team. I had plenty people come and go as staff members on my community and there was only one that was let go that had issues with it.

He was let go because he spoke down on other staff members and took his position as more than just being someone that was there to support what we were doing. I think that in the future when picking staff people these things should be very clear. Just as much as it should be clear from a user perspective that mods are volunteers. Yeah, I've lead and moderated things like guild forums and discord servers and stuff before. I didn't do it because I wanted the power or anything, but because the leader didn't trust anyone else to do the job and someone has to do it.

Being a mod should be seen as a responsibility, not just a promotion. What I think people need to remember is that the Yogscast is a community full of so many different people from so many different backgrounds and beliefs. Some people who come here do so to get away from the outside world. Some people come to forgot their problems and some people come to make their own world that little bit brighter. To pass comments and make jokes about things so sensitive is bang out of order anywhere but especially in a place which is supposed to be safe and by someone who was remotely trusted.

It tarnished his name and could hurt the yogs aswell. I hate to have the good name sullied! I don't come to this sub often, and rarely, if ever comment but having just seen the initial post from this zach guy I'm some where between disgusted and appalled.

Then going on to putting it down to "harmless fun" is just disgusting, Whoever this Zach guy is needs to really assess his perception on what's acceptable and what is not within a wide-spanning community. I'm not very good at remembering people on reddit, so before today, I had no idea this was such an issue. If it was just the April Fool's joke, that'd be one thing, but the repeated offenses and abuse of power is absolutely grounds for removal. I'm unsure what to think of the "joke" itself.

It certainly wasn't funny. The "this person died" joke is the lowest of the low-hanging fruit, but as for the concept of joking about someone dying I'm reminded of the joke that Simon himself made on the Jingle Jam this year about wanting both Totalbiscuit and Notch dead. Notch, as far as I know, is healthy but TB has terminal Cancer. And maybe it's just because I like TB, but that joke left a really sour taste in my mouth as a result.

But at the time, I sucked it up and just let it go, because dark jokes just work that way. Some of them get personal, and you just have to deal with it. Now the circumstances are different, and Simon did clarify that he was kidding, and he wasn't trying to fool anyone into thinking TB WAS dead, but I can't help but feel there's a serious case of double standards here. When Simon does it to someone, everyone thinks it's hilarious. When it gets done to Simon, everyone cries out for blood.

The point of this is I'm not saying that makes what Zach did okay. I'm just asking that people remember this in the future when it's applied to other people, and not just the ones they're personally fans of, and just Even if you don't like the person.

Yogs really should hire a mod in office, like Hulmes, to try and catch this shit before it happens, and to make the mod team have more cohesion and accountability for their actions.

Like I feel like if turps could talk to mods face to face, they would be less likely to pull this type of shit. But there should be some sort of procedures to try and mitigate these risks, like sending these posts through a couple of mods before posting them to make sure they definitely arent dodgy.

Jeez, I haven't been on this subreddit in a few days and just saw this pop up in my feed. Took a bit to see everything going on. What a fucking weird shitshow. What has to be going on in someones mind to think such a "joke" is okay? Who is this leakycauldron person anyway? We don't see them in the community and I don't think they've really posted here much at all. How can we even trust their ability and judgement if we don't even know them? When I looked at his feed, I saw less moderation if this place, and more of another sub he mods.

Some kind of NSFW one. Yeah, I'm not impressed with leakycauldron at all. They seem to make a lot of excuses and take little responsibility for things here. I have had direct dealings with leakycauldron - I'm a mod on Hannah's subreddit - and was unimpressed with them there too. They don't strike me as the sort of person who can be trusted to be the "lead mod" of anything.

I wasn't aware of anything specific with Zach and the only thing I really know him for is being the team captain over on World Community Grid. Definitely this is not OK and out of order for a mod to post an april's fools in such bad taste. A now former moderator made a dumb April fools joke and there was an enormous backlash of the "straw that broke the camel's back" kind. A lot of immature drama over peva I believe.

He went a bit too far with his role as a tough guy and ended up trying to change peva's Facebook password. Then he got mad that peva was upset over the breach of privacy. I guess it makes sense that it's hard to find sincere professionals in the YouTube game willing to make very little money.

With actual yogs members comming out and saying everything they have about him theres only one option and thats to get rid of him. Everyones had enough of his shit now, get him gone. There is no other option. I thought it was funny. People have different senses of humour, I doubt he'll go too far again after this unnecessary backlash. She and strippin have both said that Zach has sucked at being a mod for years now. I honestly I believe he should stay, as soon as I saw the post I knew it was fake, and he shouldn't be denounced for this slip up.

And as much as an april fool is that this was one of the worst things you could post and how anyone would think at the time it was acceptable I'm much more inclined to take their word over Zach's at this point. Idk what you're trying to get at with the Yogs not caring, clearly they do when it was a tasteless joke about someone they work with and are friends with.
